Aromas of mixed berry, chocolate, light earth, and licorice lead into a full entry, with mixed berry flavors, a velvety mid-palate, and a great backbone of coating, age-able tannin. Mouthwatering plum and blackberry flavors follow all the way through to the end. Layers of toasted oak are well integrated, adding structure and support to the ripe fruit flavors.
Grapes for the Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon are sourced primarily from the Martin Stelling Vineyard, located behind the winery in Oakville. Planted on some of the most beautiful, gravelly loam soil in the Napa Valley, the vineyard uniformly produces wines with supple tannins, bright, forward fruit, and beautiful tannin structure. Aged for 17 months in French oak, the Far Niente Cabernet displays beautiful aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, cassis, licorice, and sweet anise, which are seamlessly underpinned by hints of lightly toasted oak. The silky, smooth palate with flavors of mixed berry fruit, oak spice, and sweet licorice is well-structured and polished, with fine-grain tannins that melt into a long mouthwatering finish.
