The extremely popular and collectible Discovery Series from the excellent Bardstown Distillery is finally here. This small batch is a blend of four different bourbons from KY and TN. 31% 13 Year Old Kentucky distilled bourbon with 18% rye as the small grain and 8% malt, 25% 17 Year Old Tennessee Bourbon with a small grain of 8% rye & 8% malt, 25% 7 Year Old Kentucky Bourbon with 10% rye and 12% malt and finally, 19% 6 Year Old Kentucky Bourbon with 13% rye and 12% malt. The complex mixture results in a vibrant and well-balanced bourbon of great complexity. Deep caramel, fresh orange peel, burnt sugar and a soft inviting tannin are the hallmark of this always in demand expression from our good friends at Bardstown Bourbon Company. An impressive exercise in the power of blending and a wonderful contrast between the medium aged KY stocks and significant portions of very old bourbon.
